  1. A dalmatian is a breed of DOG. It measures
  2. about 60cm (24inches) tall, with a 
  3. distinctive smooth white coat with spots 
  4. that are black or brown. Dalmatians are born
  5. white and the spots appear later. 
  6. They were formerly used as coach dogs, 
  7. running beside horse-drawn carriages to fend
  8. off highwaymen. 
  9. Christmas of 1996 saw a huge increase in the
  10. sales of the dalmation, this was due to the
  11. re-make of the classic Disney film- 101
  12. Dalmations.
